Biography:He changed his name from William Slaney in July 1862. Conservative MP for Newport, Shropshire 1886-1908.
Other Sports:Football. Centre forward for England in first international with Scotland in 1873, scoring 2 goals in 4-2 win. His first goal was the first scored in international football.
